Audience measurement
#

This site measures its traffic with Umami, open-source software installed on our own servers. No data goes to a third-party service: both the measurement script and the address that receives the statistics are served by subalpine.it itself, not by another domain.

No cookie is set, and no identifier is stored on your device. To tell two visits apart, Umami computes a fingerprint from your IP address and your browser, mixed with a secret value that changes every day. The IP address is used for that computation and then immediately discarded: Umami writes it nowhere. It does appear in the server logs, for a different purpose and a different duration — see “Server logs” below. The daily change has a concrete consequence — the same person returning tomorrow counts as a new visit, and there is no way to connect the two.

That fingerprint is specific to each site: if you visit subalpine.it and then another of our products, the two visits carry unrelated identifiers, and nothing allows them to be matched up.

What is recorded, and nothing else: the pages viewed, the date, the site you came from where applicable, your browser, your operating system, the device type, the screen size, the language, and an approximate location derived from the IP address (country, region, city — never finer). Neither your IP address, nor your browser’s full identification, nor any account identifier is recorded.

This data is kept for 25 months at most, then erased automatically.

Session recording
#

Some of our products offer, and only after your explicit consent, to record what happens on screen in order to understand where the application gets stuck. This site neither offers nor uses it: the feature is forbidden there by configuration.

Server logs
#

Independently of audience measurement, the web server keeps technical logs, as any server does. Every request leaves a line there: your IP address, the date, the domain and address requested, the response code, your browser, and where applicable the site you came from.

They serve security, fault diagnosis and raw volume measurement — not tracking you. They rest on our legitimate interest in running and protecting the service.

They are kept for 14 days, then erased automatically by rotation. This is the only processing on this site where your IP address is written as such.

Our internal monitoring dashboard derives counters from them — visits per domain per day, most-viewed pages — which it keeps for longer. Those counters contain no IP address: the number of distinct visitors is computed and then reduced to a figure, without any address being stored.

Your correspondence with us
#

The other personal data processed is what you voluntarily send by e-mail to contact@subalpine.it. It is used solely to answer your request and is neither shared nor used for commercial purposes.

Display preferences
#

A display preference (light or dark theme) may be stored locally in your browser (localStorage); it is never sent to any server. Web fonts are hosted alongside the site: loading them sends no request to any outside service.

Your rights
#

In accordance with the GDPR and the French “Informatique et Libertés” act, you have the right to access, rectify, erase and object. These rights may be exercised at contact@subalpine.it.

One honest caveat about the traffic statistics: since no identifier is assigned to you and Umami keeps no IP address, we have no way of finding the visits that would be yours — that is the direct counterpart of not tracking you. This limit does not apply to your e-mails, which we can find and erase.

You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.
